Welding Pushers
User-defined geometry translated into bespoke, metal-printed tooling.

User-centered design method
Workers define the mounting geometry by drawing a curve and specify the target pushing points by placing points directly in the top view of the software. The algorithm then automatically generates the pusher geometry. Further adjustments, such as increasing or reducing material thickness in specific areas, are made with sliders. The integrated visualisation provides real-time feedback on key parameters including lengths, angles, weight, and other geometric features.
Several non-standard pushers were printed through two methods: SLM (Selective Laser Melting) and BMD (Bound Metal Deposition). Both used stainless steel 316L with a layer height of 50 microns. Each pusher was printed as a single piece and, depending on size, a print plate could accommodate between three and fifteen pushers.
